About the Kentucky Herb Association The Kentucky Herb Association is an organization for anyone interested in herbs. Membership includes both lay herb enthusiasts and herb related retail and wholesale businesses. The KHA was formed to exchange information, ideas, and to educate the public about growing and using herbs.
Interest among members ranges fromsimple culinary and medicinal gardens, to herbal crafts and cosmetics, and on to retail and wholesale business concerns. The KHA is not affiliated with any other organization, but many of its members belong to the International Herb Association, the American Horticultural Society, and the Herb Society of America.
KHA meets four times a year in February, April, August, and November. Meetings feature speakers or panels to study specific herbs, learn new techniques for use of herbs, or exchange information about suppliers.
The association sponsors the Kentucy Herb Festival in early May at Lakeview Park in Frankfort, Kentucky. The fesitval features vendors selling a variety of herbal crafts, products, foods, and plants. Lectures are scheduled throughout the day, an herbal luncheon is available on a limited basis and a forum of Kentucky authors are there to sign and promote their latest books.
